Nainital is located at a height of 1938 meters above sea level. It is among the most beautiful hill stations of India, located in the Uttarakhand state. Nainital is also known as 'Lake District of India' because it is set in a valley containing a mango-shaped lake. Among these, the Naini Lake which is surrounded by hills is the most prominent one. This place is blessed with scenic natural beauty, lakes and salubrious climate make this place a popular hill station. Some of the well-known attractions of this place are:

Naini Lake:

Naini Lake is considered as the heart and soul of the city, it is a natural freshwater lake located amidst Nainital city. The scenic beauty of Naini Lake along with the seven encompassing mountains makes it an enchanting destination of Nainital. The mesmerizing beauty of 3.5 km of this lake attracts several tourists who come here to enjoy sunrise and sunset along with its lovely reflection on the lake. This green colored water body is the most striking feature of this place where tourists can enjoy boat ride either in the self-driven paddle boat or the one driven by the boatman.

Naina Peak or China Peak:

It is the highest peak of the town which is located at an altitude of 2611 meters, and at a distance of 6 km from the town. This is another enchanting destination of this place which gives mesmerizing 360-degree view of the Himalayas and bird's eye view of Nainital. Pony or Horses can be hired to visit this peak but trekking is the best option to reach here. During trekking to Naina Peak, one can witness the mesmerizing beauty of deodars and cypresses dotted with rhododendrons. The surroundings of this place are known for natural vistas which provide ample opportunities for photography.

Nainital Zoo:

It is a small but beautiful Zoological garden located at an altitude of 2100 m. This is also referred as the Govind Vallabh Pant Zoo which is a center of attraction for nature lovers as well as wildlife lovers. A varied collection of flora and fauna fascinates both kids and the grown-ups. Some of the known wild species of this place are the Himalayan black bear, Leopard, Siberian Tiger, Palm Civet Cat, Barking Deer and many more.

Eco Cave Garden

Eco Cave Garden is newly developed cave theme garden where you get a chance to see the caves of various animals. All caves are of different size and are lightened with petroleum lamps. It is becoming the most popular tourist attraction of Nainital. The musical fountain is also a major attraction of the park. This is the great place for children to enjoy lots of fun-filled activities and it also provides information to kids about natural habitat.

Snow View Point

Snow Point is located at an altitude of 2270m, it offers most picturesque views of snow covered mountains. It is one of the most visited tourist spots of the Nainital. It is only 3 Kms from the city and you can reach here with Cable car/Ropeway. A small Temple is also located on the Snow View Point.

Bhimtal Lake

Bhimtal lake is the largest lake in Kumaon region and it is known as the ‘lake district of India’. This Lake is home to a variety of fish species and other aquatic animals. The major attraction of this lake is centrally located island which also has an aquarium. The masonry dam built on the lake offers good storage facility. It has a catchment area of around 17.12 sq km which is quite large and is covered with the dense forest of chir pine, ban oak and mixed deciduous forests.
